Zoom! whitening information20/9/2019 Thinking about bleaching your teeth but want more information? At Courtney Dental we use the Philips Zoom in chair whitening procedure which provides amazing results. If you have existing crowns, veneers fillings or artificial teeth it’s important to remember that they WILL NOT change colour. Everyone responds differently to whitening, and sensitivity is sometimes a side effect. We suggest using sensitive toothpaste before and after your whitening treatment and we also give Tooth Mousse to use at home. We find that if you do experience sensitivity it will be a temporary period of 12-24 hrs maximum. Most people have said they wake up the next day and their teeth are back to normal.
Step 1 is to take impressions of your teeth to make custom take home trays so that you can maintain your white smile at home. Our lab usually requires 1 week to make these. Step 2 will be the in chair bleaching appointment, this will take 1.5-2 hours. We will take a before photo, then polish your teeth to prepare them for the bleach. We then have to isolate the teeth so that the bleach doesn’t hurt your gums. We use a material that needs to be cured with a light and also gauze to protect your gums. We then apply the bleach to your teeth and position the light. There are 4 cycles and each cycle lasts 15 minutes. Between cycles we remove the existing bleach and apply a new fresh layer. At the end of the 4 cycles we remove all the bleach and gauze. We then take an after photo. You will leave with your custom made take home bleach trays, 2 tubes of bleach, sensitive toothpaste, tooth mousse and instructions on how to care for your new whiter smile Some tips
