Ruth's yummy sponge cake recipe16/5/2022 After much encouragement our hygienist Ruth has finally been convinced to share her special sponge cake recipe! Below is the ingredients and method. Happy baking!
Ingredients: 4 large eggs separated 1 cup castor sugar 1 cup wheaten cornflour 1 teaspoon cream of tartar 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda 1 tablespoon butter melted Method: 1. Sift cornflour, cream of tartar and bicarb soda twice 2. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form (With a pinch of salt) 3. Add eggs yolks one at a time 4. Add castor sugar gradually beat until thick and pale in colour 5. Fold through sifted dry ingredients 6. Fold through melted butter 7. Bake 180°C for 20 minutes (or until cake springs back when touch on top) (Should not take more than 7 minutes to mix all ingredients together) |
