Jimmy Rees from giggle and hoot is a guest in one of the podcasts with information about children with additional needs. Tooth brush abrasion28/7/2021 Are you guilty of brushing too hard? Loving your teeth a little too much? We see patients every day that have used a toothbrush with bristle's that are too firm, and/or a heavy hand that has worn away their teeth and gums. Whilst we can use filling material to fill in these holes, prevention is always better which is why at Courtney Dental we recommend using a soft bristled toothbrush or electric toothbrush with a toothpaste that isn't abrasion. This wear on the tooth also leads to tooth sensitivity. Electric toothbrushes can come with a sensor that lets you know when your pressing too hard.
School Holidays are the perfect time to have your children’s teeth checked. Children should have their teeth checked and cleaned just the same as adults. Every 6-12 months as recommended by their dentist, therapist or hygienist.
We have school holiday appointments available! Prevention is always better than a cure, no parent wants to see their child in pain or discomfort. Regular check ups can help avoid decay and early loss of baby teeth. If you feel your child needs instruction or help understanding the importance of brushing, flossing and diet please let our clinicians know so we can support you with this. Please call us on 4725 3366 to make an appointment Your child may be eligible for dental funding through medicare. Please ask us for more details and we can help you find out if your eligible for the CDBS medicare scheme. Footy tipping update 202121/4/2021 At Courtney Dental we take our footy very seriously and our tipping competition creates some drama. For the last few years Lian has topped the footy tipping scores, and it seems she's on a roll to win the 2021 season as well. Much to the disgust of everyone else in the building. This year we've gone technical and moved to the iTipFooty app, which has its benefits for Lian, no can (Nicole) can copy her tips, so she's currently streaking ahead leaving everyone else behind (Nicole has since been in last position). In honour of her position as top of the ladder she received an NRL easter egg at Easter time. We are secretly all hoping that Lian will be knocked off her first place perch very soon, we can't take listening to the bragging for much longer.

Why should you wear a mouth guard?15/3/2021 At Courtney dental we can't stress enough to our patients how essential a mouth guards is if your playing a contact sport at any age. Custom made mouth guards help to cushion a blow to the face, minimizing the risk of broken teeth, knocked out teeth and injuries to your lips, tongue, face or jaw.
Dental x-rays - why do we need them?8/2/2021 Your dentist or hygienist has asked to take xrays/radiographs of your teeth and your not sure why. And why do they want to take them every 2 years.
Tooth decay can be sneaky – it doesn’t tend to show physical signs of its presence early on. X-rays are an important diagnostic tool that allows your dentist to confirm if you have tooth decay. Spotting it early means your dentist can deal with the problem before it becomes significant. Small decay = smaller and cheaper restoration. We take them every 2 years so we can compare and see if there are any changes. What does dental decay look like?3/2/2021 Are you worried about dental decay or cavities? When your not a dental professional it's hard to tell if you should be worried when you see something in your mouth or your children's mouth that doesn't look quite right. Early decay can show up as white spots on the teeth that don't come off with brushing, developed decay can be brown, black or grey and if the decay is large enough parts of the tooth can break off leaving a visible hole. Early decay starts small and can be sensitive or have no feeling at all, whilst advance decay can be very painful.
